Boeing
designs, develops, manufactures, and sells commericial
jetliners, military aircraft, and other defense and launch
systems. Boeing is the largest global aircraft manufacturer in
the world.
Boeing was formed in 1916 by
William E. Boeing as Pacific Aero Products Co. Later in 1917
the company was renamed Boeing Airplane Company. Boeing
recently merged with McDonnell Douglas in 1997.
Boeing's 2007 revenues were
66.4 billion dollars. The company has 159,000 employees and is
headquartered in Chicago, Illiniois.
The copmany joined the Dow
Jones Industrial Average on March 12, 1987. They are currently
also a member of the Dow Jones Composite, S&P 100, S&P
500, and S&P 1500 Super Comp. The stock symbol is
BA.
